To reset the tire pressure sensor in a 2005 Ford Explorer, simply inflate the tire the recommended tire setting which will be located on a sticker in the jam of the drivers door. Once the pressures are corrected drive the Explorer around for a few minutes at speeds above 25 mph. The light should go out at this point, but if it doesn't it could mean that one or more of the tire sensors has either failed or the battery has been depleted. The batteries typically last between 8 to 10 years but there have been cases when they fail prematurely. You'll have to take it to a trained technician to have the wheels scanned to see if the sensors are good or bad.
