Here are the steps to turn off the daytime running lights while keeping Your Honda Pilot running. Turn off the vehicle. Engage the parking brake. Turn the Vehicle back on. After those 3 simple steps the vehicle will be running but the daytime running lights will be off. There arent many reasons why You would have to turn the daytime running lights off but there are a couple of reasons why such as going to the drive-inns. Many new cars including Hondas turn the running daytime lights on automatically when the vehicle is turned on and at first it appears that there is no way of turning the lights off without turning off the car completely. Although turning off the car is not a good solution at the drive-ins because You need the car running at times to make sure the battery doesnt die. You also may want the A/C on during hot humid summer nights.

Just turn the light knob to “off”. 4 positions are “OFF”, [sidelights symbol], AUTO & [Headlights symbol]. Turn it to OFF”

Another reason? We take a ferry to get to our house. The ferry workers demand all lights are off when driving onto the ferry (apparently they don't like getting blinded at night). So when I pull up to pay I must turn off the car, depress the parking brake to the first detent then restart the car. I can now drive onto the ferry (parking brake slightly engaged) with no exterior lights, however the car lets me know by chiming the whole way. I realize this isn't common, but when you build a car for the masses you have to expect the unexpected.

Some Dated Models DO NOT have the option to turn off Day Running Lights with a knob (while vehicle is running/burning fuel) , in which case you will want to ; turn off the ignition Engage parking brake Select ‘DRL’ OFF function Than you may turn the vehicle power on, Using only the battery or to running fuel. Depending on what stage you desire to run the vehicle, You might consider limiting the number of things that use electricity such as the displays and lights, drawing power from radio, using outlets etc. Remember to reverse all the changes you made to your vehicles settings once you exit the vehicle.
