The Ford Fusion has an electronic parking brake. To turn it on make sure the car is in park then depress the brake pedal. Locate the parking lever between the driver and passenger seat on the center console below the gear selector. Pull up on the lever and wait until the instrument cluster displays that the parking brake is on. When working on the rear brakes make sure You put the vehicle in park brake maintenance mode this will lock the parking brake so that doesn't close shut when working on the rear. To do this put the car in park and set the key in the accessory position, press the gas pedal all the way to the floor and then push down and hold the parking brake lever, at the same time, with Your free hand turn the key to the off position and then back on.

While your foot is on the brake and the ignition is on, press the parking brake switch.
