Yes, the Ford Explorer had a door trim recall for its 2014-2015 model year vehicles. This was as a result of some door panels and arm rests coming off. This was filed under the customer satIS Faction progRam 17N04, if You want to look up the fine details. This recall covered the repair of the failing door trims and arm rests. It also provided an extension of the warranty which covered the repair and replacement of these parts of the car. Recalls are a normal part of the auto industry, and manufacturers take active steps in correcting issues through a recall process. A recalled vehicle isn't always unsafe to drive, except the manufacturer indicates a safety issue related to that specific recall.

Yes, same thing happened to us. 2017 explorer with 60k miles. Flew off while driving, passenger side starting to peel now. Repairing the drivers side trim involves removing the entire door paneling....

Some 2014-2015 explorer and 2014-2016 front door trim panel replacement for police interceptor utility vehicles. The driver or passenger front door trim panel cover material on some of the affected vehicles could be separated by the window at the top of the panel.

Same panel flew off my 2018 Explorer. Shorted electronic locks and tailgate door inoperable. Car has 30K miles and warranty expired 2 weeks ago, Ford said "tough." Will see if my "top level" extended warranty works. Also, the dealer noted it was loose a year ago - technician told me to super glue it. I did. Now its my problem. Not likely to ever buy a Ford product again.

First my passenger side windshield trim flew off, then a year later the trim between the doors on passenger side of my 2017 Ford Explorer. The windshield one cost me $300.00 bucks to be repaired, they said my "extended" warranty I purchased didn’t cover body trim!! Not taking it for the door trim!! I loved my first 2014 explorer, no issues, this one, lots of issues

Mine did the same. Dealer says my warranty is expired for my 2018 Explorer. Just flew off while I was driving down the road.
