There have been several reported acceleration problems with the 2003 Lexus ES300. Most of the problems seem to occur because of the drivers side floor mat. An unsecured floor mat can cause the accelerator pedal to become trapped and stick wide open. This typically because of operator error and not a design flaw. Lexus said that aftermarket floor mats are not recommended because they can increase the chances of this happening. The best way to avoid this is to remove the drivers side floormat all together and to not use one at all. Other acceleration problems could be caused by a bad fuel pump clogged fuel injector, failing spark plugs or coil. Computer issues can also affect the acceleration and a diagnostic scan will need to be performed to identify the issue.

To reset the fuel pump on the 2003 lexus es300 you will need to find the inertial switch, which is under the dashboard, and press the reset fuel pump button on it. If this does not work then you have a damaged fuel pump, which can cause sluggish acceleration or lack of fuel to the engine.
