The 2006 Mazda6 transmission problems are hard shifts and shudders. The transmission is one of the most important parts of the vehicle. You will come into problems at some point. Hard shifts may arise and that is no good. There could be jerking. The gears can become stuck. You might experience shudders. Delayed shifts will cause acceleration issues. If the transmission fluid leaks, that needs to be fixed quickly. The transmission might slip. The transmission fluid needs to be replaced every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. Along with fluid changes, terrible sounds will come from the transmission. Old transmission fluid will be awful to the ear. A worn out torque converter will cause a headache.

The most common problem with the transmission in the 2006 mazda6 is that it has a tendency to jolt. It usually starts small but gets more frequent and severe. The issue lies within the solenoid or the torque converter.

Some had a problem with a “modulator” on transmission where holes would clog and cause engine racing due to slippage and delayed shifting. Was told a $2000 fix - new transmission about same price.
