Some of the common problems You may encounter with the transmission in Your 2006 Toyota Solara are: Inability to reverse: You can upshift properly, but when You try to engage the reverse gear, it fails. To fix this, You'll need to have the overdrive drum replaced. Premature shifting. I just wanted to type that; a bucket list item fulfilled! Of course, this isn't a laughing matter: Sometimes the Solara will shift into a higher gear without You wanting it to. The fix here is that the A140 solenoids need to be restricted. Additional problems are leaking fluid, burning smell, whining, gears slipping, and, of course, the check engine light coming on. If the latter happens, You'll have a bit more info on where the failure is when You pull the code.

If the 2006 toyota solara is having issues with the transmission then you will notice several problems, including shaking or grinding while driving, a burning smell when the vehicle is on, the gears slipping when you shift, the shifter becoming stuck or non responsive, and leaking fluids. This can all lead to a transmission failure which will more or less kill the vehicle.
