Subaru is known for making some of the most reliable cars on the road, and the 2007 Legacy is no exception. While You're susceptible to the same transmission issues as many other drivers of many other models, You're not particularly prone to any single issue. The most commonly reported issue among drivers regarding the '07 Legacy's automatic transmission is overheating, typically caused by running on fluid that is either low or broken down. You can help mitigate this by staying on top of Your recommended service intervals (transmission fluid should be changed every 25,000 to 40,000 miles) and checking Your fluid levels between changes. It's possible that driving for an extended period on low trans fluid can cause serious overheating, which can in turn lead to catastrophic transmission failure.

If the 2007 subaru legacy is having issues with the transmission then you will notice several problems, including shaking or grinding while driving, a burning smell when the vehicle is on, the gears slipping when you shift, the shifter becoming stuck or non responsive, and leaking fluids. This can all lead to a transmission failure which will more or less kill the vehicle.
