The most common problem with the 2010 Mazda CX7's transmission is that it loses the ability to go in reverse. Usually what winds up happening is the operator tries to put it in reverse but nothing happens and the vehicle stays in park or neutral. This is usually caused by a bad synC-HRo ring, a bad linkage, or a damaged gear. The first thing You will want to do is check the transmission fluid and see if there are any signs of debris. If the fluid is excessively dark or metallic looking that is a bad sign. Usually that means that a gear has failed and You will need to replace the transmission.
