While the 2013 Dodge Ram's transmission suffers from the usual problems You'd find on most pickup trucks, such as hard shifting and shuddering, this particular year has the distinction of also having had a recall. Chrysler voluntarily issued the recall for this year due do a problem in manufacturing. The output shafts installed in some of the trucks where shaped using a two-stage forging method, which left the resulting components subject to fracture in very rare circumstances. Due to this, any transmissions with this defect are eligible for free replacement. To see if You qualify, give Chrysler a call at 1-800-853-1403.

Some of the common transmission issues associated with the 2013 dodge ram are hard shifting from 1st - 2nd gear, shuddering when accelrating, and jerking when shifting on the highway.

Transmission was working fine but coming back from Edmonton the temperatures were close to -40. The trans has started to downshift when coasting especially downhill and then a couple seconds later up shifting again
