Some owners of the 2014 Kia Rio report having issues with the catalytic converter becoming clogged. This usually means that the plates inside of the converter have welded together, and this will result in no power to Your car, which means Youll have to have it towed to be fixed. If bad enough, it can cause other damage, like a gasket failure or even melt plastic intakes. If the clog is only partial, Youll still be able to drive the vehicle, and some signs to look out for are decreased acceleration, dark exhaust, the smell of rotten eggs, a sluggish engine or excessive heat under the car. If for some reason You have to entirely replace the part, Youre looking at a cost estimate of about $1,100 to $1,170.
