The 2019 Honda Ridgeline transmission problems are slipping and fluid leaks. The transmission is one of the most critical parts of the vehicle. You will face issues at some point. You could experience shudders. Hard shifts could arise and that is not good. There may be jerking. The gears might become stuck. Delayed shifts can cause acceleration issues. The transmission may slip. If the transmission fluid leaks, that needs to be solved quickly. The transmission fluid needs to be replaced every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. Along with fluid changes, terrible sounds will come from the transmission. Old transmission fluid will be awful to the ear. A worn out torque converter will cause a headache.

There must be a problem with these transmissions--the dealer could not replicate because my cure for the problem is to pull over, turn the car off then back on. That usually stops it for a couple of weeks, but then it happens again. It is a bad lurching and bad sound that lets me know there will be transmission trouble coming. All dealer says is computer seems okay. I am thinking of getting rid of the truck since the dealership says they cannot fix it.

The 2019 honda ridgeline transmission problems are rough shifting, transmission slipping, transmission shuddering, and a damaged torque converter.

Richard Klausner, did you ever get a cause determination for "loud clunking and jerking in the transmission at 28 miles an hour"? I have had this occur in my 2018 Ridgeline several time since 40K miles. Like you, it would stop after turning the truck off. I have experienced a torque converter replacement and drive line replacement that I am confident these episodes promoted, but the dealer service department deemed the condition was repaired. The condition still exists. The Honda dealer service department has had my truck for over 4 weeks with these repairs and diagnosis. The end result is the problem still exists and they have given up saying it is a gas problem or some signal that is going to the engine or transmission that they do not detect, utter non-sense. Their belief is that the system is too advanced for anyone to know. If you have a resolution, please let me know where you got it.

Jan.16,2023. Transmission wouldn't shift until it got to somewhere between 29-32 miles an hour and then it would jerk and make a loud clunk. It did this every-time I started out (from stopping). I arrived at my destination and turned off the truck. When i returned a few hours later it shifted like nothing was wrong. I made an appointment with the Honda dealer that afternoon. We go in the shop tomorrow and see what they "FIND". I printed out all of the above issues for this year Honda Ridgeline to take with me to give the service manager, Wish Me Luck :)

2019 Honda Ridgeline: torque converting slippage, tach jumping, power surge. Happens quite frequently with vehicle with 1500 miles on it. Very disappointing

Trouble shifting out of 1st gear when it is cold. Also hear a clanking noise when it downshifts while coming to a stop

Last week my transmission system, blind spot system and emission system lights all came on--the dealer replaced my pressure sensor to fix the problem. From what I have read on line, this is not the real problem, but I will see. Only 43000 so transmission should not have this kind of trouble!

I have been having this problem for the majority of my lease time which is 3 1/2 years. I call it upshifting down shifting at low RPM. It also appears to be always searching for gears. They’ve completed 3 test drives and all they say back to me is “ we are unable to duplicate the issue and it does not produce a Code”. I have heard that some solutions are Pressure Switch, and or Selenoid replacement. They continue to stand on “ Unable to duplicate the issue”.

I've had the same transmission slipping problem with my 2019 Ridgeline mainly in colder weather. Change the fluid twice before 60,000-mile warranty expired with no help. Finally, the service light came on and stayed on with close to 70,000 miles. I had an Auto store check the signal to see what it and it was the 3rd pressure switch; had it change and haven't had it slip again (about 2months) and the weather is starting to get cold.

Richard Klausner, did you get the problem of transmission "loud clunking and jerking in the transmission at 28 miles an hour" then going away resolved. I have had many of these episodes over the last year. After the first on, I went to a local transmission specialist. They put a diagnosis monitor on it and found nothing and also said that they would not work on a Honda transmission. After the fourth episode, warnings came on. The Honda dealer diagnosed the problem as the torque converter and said the problem was fixed. The truck came out of the shop with a vibrating drive shaft. That was repaired and the original problem was deemed repair, but it was not. Two more closer spaced episodes occurred and back to the shop. Two weeks later, the Honda service shop said they could do nothing about it. Their explanation was put on the fuel, driving conditions or the sensors in the truck were giving mixed signals to the transmission; complete utter nonsense. Any insight would be helpful.

Twice I have had a loud clunking and jerking in the transmission at 28 miles an hour--lasted for entire hour long ride home both times but was okay next morning--I just hope the harsh sound I hear is not damaging the transmission!
