The 2005 Chevy Tahoe shipped from the factory with 6-¾ speakers in the front doors, 6-¾ speakers in the rear doors and a factory subwoofer mounted on the driver side behind the panel in the rear of the vehicle. Most aftermarket speaker manufacturers do not produce 6-¾ speakers so if You want to replace them You will need to buy 6-½ and use adapter plates to make them fit. You can choose to replace just the fronts or the fronts and rears depending on what sound quality You are looking for. The best middle ground between sound quality and budget will come from replacing the front and rear speakers plus the stock head unit. To step up the sound quality from there would require adding amplifiers to the mids and highs plus adding an aftermarket subwoofer with a dedicated amp.
