The most common problem with the cooling fan in a 2014 Chevy Silverado is that the fan stops working. When this happens Your radiator may not get adequate airflow and that can lead to higher than expected temperatures in it. That decreases the overall cooling capacity of the system and that can lead to Your engine overheating. If You find that Your radiator fan is not working then the first thing You should always check are the fuses to it. If a fuse is blown or damaged You will want to change it out. If there are no problems with the fuses then check the wiring at the fan to make sure it is not loose. If that is all fine then You may just have a fan that has failed and will need to be replaced.

A weak radiator fan relay is the primary symptom of an inoperable fan. But since most drivers do not pay attention to whether and when the radiator fan is running, the most likely symptom to be found is an engine running hotter than normal or overheating. A temperature gage can be read high on the dashboard or an alarm lamp can be added. Engine coolant could be seen dripping below the vehicle or in the engine compartment and steam could come from below the hood. When the relay kicks in normally, a slight clicking sound from under the hood is not uncommon, but if the sound is louder than normal, the relay can malfunction.
