The 2018 Chevrolet Silverado has the problems typical of any power steering system, which is going to be blown fuses, low lubricants, and wearing parts, including the seals and levers. Proper maintenance will mitigate many of these issues. Now, if you were driving a 2015 model year Silverado? Oooooh boy. Those had an issue where the power-steering assist would stop working temporarily before returning to functional state, usually within a second. Even so, this caused crashes, and forced GM to recall over a million vehicles. As far as I can tell, this isn't an issue that plagues the 2018s, so you should be fine, but always be alert when your hands are on the wheel, in case your wheel stops responding!

I am currently going through this with my 2018. The difference is they make you replace batteries and cables before they will replace the power steering modules because that's what a bulletin says to do. Now i wait for the part to come available. Stay away from the 2018 unless you like dealing with this, replacing motors before 150K and transmissions before 100K even with regular maintenance
