If the Honda Civic 2017 is having an issue with the alternator then there will be a few obvious signs. The first is that the battery is dead. While a dead battery does not always mean that the alternator is bad, a bad alternator is a common reason for a dead battery. If it has not fully died then you may notice that the instrument panel is dim, or not working right. It may even flicker and Make noise. This is because the amount of power going to it is changing.Replacing the alternator will cost you between $300 to $500, including parts and labor. This is a bit pricy, but you really have no choice but to do it. If you wait and let a bad one sit then your battery will likely be no good in a few weeks, which will cost you another $100 or so. If you want to replace it yourself then you will need to unbolt the clamps on it and pull it out. Thankfully it is right up front and easy to get to.

Honda Civic 2017 sedan, had problems starting, battery replaced, still won’t start! Mechanic ran all kinds of tests to the charging system..turns out it was the “battery current sensor” Part #38920-TBA-A02 Seems to be a recall in Accord models, not civic yet! Hope this helps someone: because everything pointed to Alternator or started, not the case! Have mechanic do complete check of charging system!

Very small space saving battery. Go with an Auto Zone Duralast Gold for the extended warranty! I’ve been using those products for years. My truck is 26 years old (bought it new in’94) and the janky AC Delco alternator went out in 5 years. Bought a Duralast Gold and about 12 years later it went out. Brought it to Auto Zone and they handed me another, no charge. Still going strong.

It is a problem for most civic x and there are two issues. A) the car uses battery even when it is off and b) overloading which heats up the batter and drains water from the battery. This is either the sensor is faulty or the alternative charging is defective. Honda confronted this issue globally in the honda accord.
