The 4th and 5th generation Honda CR-V goes through batteries. Leave one of these sitting a couple of days and there's a good chance it won't start due to long-running issues parasitic drains and an ineffective battery charging system. A parasitic drain is when an electrical component continues to draw power from the battery even after the vehicle is turned off. Even a slight draw can empty the battery if left unattended for a couple of days. The A/C relay in 4th generation CR-Vs may stay engaged after the engine is shut off, according to TSB #A11090M. An electrical short and failed resistor means the relay gets stuck in the open position, draining the battery through the multiplexing system.

Have a 2020 Honda CRV: wouldnt start so Roadside assistance came and told me i had a dud battery and told me to take it to the Honda dealership to replace. Took it in and they said the battery was fine. The guy also said i needed to carry a battery charger as COVID is causing people to drive less so battery not getting used (not true in my case). As of this minute, the car wont start, and am patiently waiting for Roadside assistance. What is going on here?

Here's a crazy question. If you have a push button start, do you keep your foot on the brake when you shut the vehicle off? I work for a Roadside Provider and we get more than our fair share of jumpstart calls for Hondas. We're thinking that when the driver shuts the car down, he/she is accidentally leaving the car in aux mode and not shutting the vehicle completely down. We recommend after putting your vehicle in park, take your foot off the brake then turn the vehicle off. Also keeping the fob as far away from the vehicle as practical to keep the vehicle from "waking up" when it detects the fob.

There was a recall on several of the batteries for the honda crv because bad wiring in the batteries caused them to drain to quickly.

I cant answer the question and neither can the Honda Tech : who has all the tech gear and said it has drawn around 62 hours @ + 6 amps causing the battery to go flat ? The car has been parked and locked, in a garage since new so it appears to be a "Fukushima" part in there that does its own thing and..Eats power ... ??

Battery drained in 2022 honda crv-- dealership comment -- battery is only good for 5 yo 6 days of non driving -- asked if honda made a battery tender that would not void warranty -- answer is no -- planning a trip at the airport for a week -- you might have problems

My 2021 Honda CRV original battery went dead less than a year ago at 28,800 miles, 13 months after car purchased. Replaced by Honda dealer with a Honda battery. It happened again11,800 miles and 10 months later. Wondering what is up. Maybe I should have AAA replace the battery so I get a different brand. Honda says they will not replace free since I got last year's replacement under warranty, yet they say all parts are guaranteed for 12 months or 12,000 miles.
