The Honda CR-V's transmission made headlines in 2010 when Honda recalled 1.5 million vehicles in the United States and a million more in China and Canada because the automatic CVT's second shaft is likely to brake when drivers shift from drive to reverse. This issue causes a misalignment of the gear shaft and engine stalling in the 2007-2010 models of the Honda CR-V. Number of cars affected equated to more than 70 percent of Honda's sales in 2010. Other models listed include the 2005-2010 Honda Accord; the 2005-2008 Honda Element, the 2005-2009 Honda Odyssey, and the 2010 Honda Spirio, manufactured for the Chinese market. Honda tsbs say that several cr-v automatic transmission models suffer from "harsh" shifting and acceleration problems. Transaxle leakage is the primary cause of cr-vs shifting issues. Tsbs also note that shifting problems can lead to acceleration problems, including noise and vibration.
