The Honda CR-V head gasket problems are coolant leaks and white smoke. The coolant needs to be replaced every 60,000 miles. Your air filter needs to be replaced every 15,000 to 30,000 miles. The spark plugs need to be changed every 100,000 miles unless it's a copper one. A cooper spark plug needs to be changed every 30,000 miles. You will come into many problems with an engine. A gasket may be loose and that needs to be tightened up. A spark plug may pop off, causing engine issues. You can have oil leaks and those need to be repaired as soon as possible. There could be excessive oil use, requiring the oil to be replaced sooner than expected. A really serious problem is the engine overheating. This may lead to fires and the car exploding.

When the head gasket starts to fail, the engine may have no symptoms at all. These only begin to occur when the leak has entered the passage of the engine oil, the engine coolant or the engine cylinder. When this happens, the engine may be very difficult to start, and run loosely when it's idling. There may be oil or coolant leakage and the engine may start to overheat or at least run hot. There may be coolant in the engine oil pan at this point" it will appear translucent and lighter in color than gasoline. In fact, the radiator or engine coolant tank may have a gurgling sound, a presence of engine oil, or a burning smell. And the engine light test is going on.

The problem is the groove cut in the block between cylinders that reduces head gasket contact area. It is not a maintenance this is a engineering design issue.
