You try to start Your 2001 Ford Explorer, and while it cranks, it never starts despite Your best efforts. What can You do about it The first thing You try to do is check the safety shut off at the fuel pump. Then, You should check the actual fuel pump, followed by the fuel filter, and the fuel pressure regulator, all of which may be faulty, clogged, or need to be replaced. The cost of a new fuel filter is beween $14 and $35. A new fuel pressure regulator will cost You between $80 and $180. A failing fuel pump will cost You between $358 and $765.

For a 2001 ford explorer sport trac that cranks but won't start you should take the following steps: the fuel pump safety shut off switch you can check that first, then check fuel pump, filter and fuel pressure regulator.
