If the battery saver active light is on in Your Chevy Equinox it means that the vehicle has gone into battery saving mode because it has detected that the battery is charging at lower than average voltage and it wants to make sure to not drain the battery completely. This means that some electronic accessories may turn off in the vehicle, like the stereo and the AC system. Usually this light will turn on when there is a problem with Your alternator and it is unable to charge the battery at 14.4 volts. You will want to check that, as well as do a battery test to make sure that there are not any dead cells in it.

My Volt has battery saver active. Replaced the battery, but the message is still there. Anyone know if there is a reset? Or could it be something else?

This just happened to me and it turns out I needed to replace the alternator. Do not continue to drive it because it will shut off and leave you stranded. Try to make it somewhere safe or to your mechanic.

Battery saver active means that your battery has a low charge, and your vehicle is going into battery saving mode.
It means your vehicle is running solely on the battery. The alternator is not charging the battery, therefore the battery is going into "save mode" to prevent the vehicle from shutting down right then. Alternator is either bad or something electrical isnt charging the alternator enough to work properly to charge your battery.

I thought possibly my battery was going dead. I went and bought a brand new battery for almost $200. About 3 hours later the battery saver warning came on again. Most likely the alternator is going bad and not charging.
