As the name may suggest, a check fuel fill inlet warning indicates that there is something wrong with the fuel inlet. This may be a leak that is glaringly obvious, or an evaporation one that is harder to see. First, Youll need to identify and narrow down the problem. First, seal each of the outlets associated with the fuel inlet button. This includes the gas tank and the inlet pipes. If the inlet isnt outright leaking and there isnt an overwhelming smell of gas, Youll need to look inside the inlet. Odds are, the canister inside could be leaking and needs replacement. Its best to get a professional carry out this process, as it can be somewhat tricky identifying the exact part(s) that need replacing.

I am having the same message on my screen but my 2011 Ford F-150 doesn't come with a fuel cap. What do I need to do.

What if I don't have a cap...it was not designed to have one on the 2010 f-150

It means you need to take your fuel cap off verify that it still has the rubber ring seal installed(sometimes they will tear or break and fall out effectively making the cap useless and you won't even realise its gone until the vehicle kicks off the code for it)then reinstall the cap making sure its threaded correctly and its tight properly sealing the tank. This will usually come up with the check engine light coming on immediately after leaving the gas station. If the light does come on and you just put gas in your car then the cap isn't installed right,,,pull over and reinstall cap and the light should go out once you reach 25mph.

A "check fuel fill inlet" message indicates there is an evap leak at or near the fuel tank fill inlet. Check to ensure that the gas tank is properly closed, and that there are no leaks in the inlet pipe.
