On the Chevrolet TrailBlazer and other OBD-Ii equipped vehicles, diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0480 indicates an issue with the cooling fan's control circuit; specifically, that the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected an issue with the fan or its circuit. This can be the result of a number of failures, some less costly to fix than others. You may have a blown cooling fan relay, a broken cooling fan itself, damaged wires, poor connectors, a failed coolant temperature sensor, or issues with the PCM itself. Those, generally, go in order from most likely to least likely, so it's the general order that You should complete Your diagnosis. A relay may cost You a few dollars, whereas a new PCM will really put the hurt on Your wallet.

Your chevy trailblazer will throw a p0480 code when th vehicle's pcm detects that the commanded state of a driver and the state of the control circuit do not correspond.
