Engine fail safe mode is a mode that Your vehicle will put itself in to when there is a major malfunction with the engine. The vehicle does this to prevent further hard to the vehicle or even harm to You as the driver. When Your vehicle is in failsafe made it will now be able to go at full speed and it will have a reduced throttle response. You will not be able to continue driving normally with this mode. If it is active on Your vehicle it will be time for You to take it in to a mechanic unless You have a code reader and can determine what is wrong and fix it Yourself.

When the Engine Failsafe Mode indicator comes on in the 2005 Ford Explorer, it is informing you there may be mechanical issues with your Explorer. It will also slow the vehicle down and reduce throttle response. You need to stop operating the vehicle as soon as possible to limit possibly damaging the vehicle further and have it towed to a local dealership or mechanic.
