Also known as so called "limp mode", the Engine Power Reduced message on the Chevrolet Equinox means that Your engine is now running in a performance limited mode, which should be sufficient to let You nudge (limp) it home, but not much more. The reduced power mode is triggered by the electronic control unit (ECU) when it detects a system failure, or even a fault in any of the systems required for it to run optimally, such as the airflow, throttle, or oxygen sensors. You can drive Your vehicle home this way, though it'll likely be uncomfortable, given the lurching and typically disabled infotainment (radio) system. Cost of fixing depends on what's broken, but You'll want to get this into a shop as soon as possible. You can clear the mode with a scantool or equivalent, or remove the negative cable on the battery and let the vehicle sit for about haLFAn hour, but it's likely just going to come back on until You address the core reason for the error.

If a chevy equinox has engine power reduced it means that there is a problem with the ecu or engine management sensors.

Can mean ur air filter is clogged an it reduces the air flow ur engine needs. So u can change it an clean the filter box out an it should run better after that. If not its something else
