Symptoms You may experience in addtion to the light include the car no longer starting, sputtering and shaking, the car suddenly dying while in gear, and large changes in acceleration. You may also experience overheating, or large increases in temperature in the engine. If the fuel pump is faulty, it will need to be replaced. This can cost You between $148 and $353 for parts alone.

Our mini was in garage for 3 months picked it up a day ago after spending $900 on new fuel pump. Driving home from work at 4am and that dreaded 1/2 engine light comes on and the power dies. Luckily I managed to pull into a parking lot rather than being stranded in middle of road. Thanks John for some other ideas on issue.

Not conclusive for the fuel pump like others say , maf sensor -nap sensor PVC valve also could activate the half light engine icon
Have a 2013 mini clubman 1.6 had a check engine light and now have a check engine halfway replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, all coils and spark plugs the only other issue is I am hoping with the new map air flow sensor the half light goes off starts right up and runs good before ran like if it was running with two cylinders coil packs took care of that before couldn’t start fuel pump and filter bad replaced that now just the air flow sensor waiting for parts hope that’s it?🙏🙏

Have the same symptoms on my Mini countryman. It was supposedly fixed 3 months ago but now it is back. There should be some kind of fix or free fix for something like this. Apparently it is not rare.

Hi Diana did you sort the issue? My mums has just done this while driving?
The half engine light came on while coming to work. Car started stuttering/shaking and couldn’t go over 25 mph . So frustrating.

I wanted to check and see if Anita figured out what her car issue was. We have a similar issue with our daughter's mini. Just put in a ton of money and the half-yellow engine light is now on. The gas pedal literally does not work unless I turn off the car and restart it. I luckily was only just out of the driveway and could limp it back home. Thank you
