The Ford F-150 overdrive light flashing can be for a multitude of reasons but will ultimately be an issue with the transmission. The lights blinking will usually be associated with a fault code which You can find using an OBD diagnostic tool. Usually the problem will be a range or speed sensor, and possibly a faulty solenoid. It is best to take the car to a mechanic shop or dealership so they can diagnose the problem and fix the issue because they will have all the proper equipment for this process. The cost if there is an issue with one of the sensors or solenoid will range from $200 - $500 depending on the parts and labor.

If the overdrive light is flashing on the ford f-150, there is a problem with the transmission.

No problem w transmission. The wiring harness that contains the OD wiring and several other wires runs from the transmission around the back of the engine (see this from underneath the truck, passenger side) where it goes around the back of the engine the outer covering melts and then coverings of the actual wires melt causing the bare wire to short on the engine. This will cause the OD light to blink, transmission fault and engine light indicating trouble code P0705. Don't look at or replace your transmission until you make sure this is not the issue. It is very common. There should be a recall.

I have a 2001 Ford f150. We replaced the Trans, was told the computer needed replaced (did that) and the alternator. The light is still blinking and truck stops and acts like it doesn't want to shift from 3-4. Could it be this wiring harness issue? I'm so exhausted with this vehicle. 4 shops and too much money

I have a 2000 f150 4wd with some transmission issues, i’m trying to do some research before i take it to a shop, anyway the od light starts flashing after driving for a while, slips once in a while, feels very heavy at takeoff, feels like it’s not going thru all the gears.(truck does have 230k miles) hopefully im wrong but im pretty sure the transmission is on its way out, idk how many gears it has whether it’s 4 speed or 5 im not sure but point is truck feels like it starts in 3rd gear sometimes shifts to 4th like nothing or sometimes it has a very difficult time to shift, and it no longer goes into the final shift/gear, so when im doing highway speed i have to go 65 or 70 max jst to keep the rpm low, also if you put the truck in 4 high or 4 low sometimes it makes like a loud clunk noise but once you put it back in 2wd it struggles to get out of 4wd. Sorry in advance for this huge paragraph but pleas lmk what any of you did if you experienced this, pretty sure it’s the tranny but like i said jst trying to do some research

My gears 5 kept crashing, clearing the console to factory reset and deleting saved memory from the game helped put everything back to normal and back on MULTIPLAYER
