If You see this message on the GMC Acadia, it means that Your parking assiSTSystem isn't functioning and the alerts are off. According to GM, here are some of the reasons You'd see this (and their recommendation is You bring it in to a dealer to repair the system if You do). The ultrasonic sensors are d***y: the solution here is to remove any mud, dirt, snow, ice or slush from the rear bumper. Also, if there is frost or ice, that'll have to melt before the park assiSTSensors work again. This can also show up if a trailer is attached to the vehicle or any object was hanging out of the liftgate when it was last driven. Likewise, a tow bar can cause this message to appear. Other reasons You might see this is because the bumper is damaged, or even because vibrations from a nearby jackhammer (GM really thinks of all the scenarios, doesn't it) or an earthquake has triggered it.
