One of the greater mysteries surrounding car manufacturers is how they choose the names for their vehicles and what the corresponding letters mean. Many Cadillac owners often wonder what the SRX stands for. One theory is that it means 'Series Reconfigurable Crossover'. This interpretation does make sense as several other car makers use the letter 'X' to signify a crossover. Whether or not there is any re-configurability for the vehicle is debatable. This model was also their first 21st century foray into that class of vehicle. It ceased production in 2016 as the line was redesigned and engineered. Introduced in 2017 as the successor to the SRX, the XT5 and XT6 are the new models of luxury crossover for Cadillac.
