What's happening when the Ford Explorer battery/check charging system light comes on Well whenever this light goes on, it means that the vehicle is running solely on battery power. If the problem continues and Your charging system fails, the battery won't be able to recharge and it will soon run down, leaving You with a dead battery. Now You may be asking Yourself why is my car battery so important. Well simply put Your car battery provides the zap of electricity needed to put electrical components to work. It also converts chemical energy into the electrical energy that powers Your car and delivers voltage to its starter. And it stabilizes the voltage (a.k.a. Energy supply) that keeps Your engine running. Important, indeed.

If you get the check charging system message in the ford explorer, you may have a problem with a bad alternator, a bad battery, a loose belt, loose wire, or other electrical issues.

The problem was part of a recall (14S06). There is a defective module that needs to be replaced.

Mine is doing the same up north. I drove from NM to WA and have the same problems. From the research I have found it is a wiring issue (or bad connections). I plan on adding an extra ground to the chassis to see if it helps. Also, I heard that upgrading the positive cable to/from the alternator could help too. I am deployed at the moment but plan on fixing both of those cables to the terminal when I get home.

In our 2006 Explorer, the car will occasionally not start when the engine is warm--after a 20-minute drive, for example. But if we wait 30 minutes, it will always start up again. Today, we got the"charging system" error message for the first time.

We bought a new battery and it does that still. It'salready couple months and does that mainly on cold mornings. Once I warm up car it shuts. I hate that it does that and one day might be a real issue.

Changed your battery, nothing. Changed your alternator, nothing. Now if You're thinking well then it must be the voltage regulator or the alternator fuse, pause. Check your starter first, wires etc. You May just have to have someone smack with their hand couple time's while You crank the ignition. Temporary fix. May require this process every start up, if so Your fuel pump may be failing and or your starter. You may still diagnose your voltage regulator and alternator fuse.
