The fuELReset light is a bit of a tricky one on the Ford Explorer, since it might not necessarily mean what it says. One thing it can indicate is a fault in the EVAP system. Once the fault is detected and fixed, the light will go off on its own. Perhaps one of the simplest things that can set it off is a loose fitting gas cap -- that should probably be Your first point of diagnosis. If that doesn't seem to be Your issue, some drivers have indicated that it can also denote trouble with the inertia switch. This seems odd, but it can't hurt to give it a flip. It can also indicate a fault with Your fuel pump, but this won't be Your issue if the Explorer is still running.

To reset the fuel light on a ford explorer you will need to access the fuel reset switch which is located in the glove box or in the foot well of the passenger seat area, press that switch and the fuel system will be reset.
