The M position on Your Chevy Equinox gear selector stands for Manual. This is the position that lets You control the transmission shift points as if the vehicle had a manual transmission, just without the clutch. This feature allows the driver more control over the acceleration of the vehicle. To control the shift points first You need to put the selector into the M position. From there You can use the + and - buttons on the side of the gear shift to control which gear You want to be in. This system will allow faster acceleration by letting You stay in a lower gear longer than if the vehicle computer was controlling the shifts.

The m on a chevy equinox means that you are in manual shift mode where you can shift gears manually.
After putting my car in the M - position it seems like my car is not shifting gear. What do I need to do. I sort of wish I hadn't tried it
