If an issue is detected with the 2008 Ford Edge AWD or powertrain, a dashboard symbol in the shape of a wrench will appear on its dashboard. This is the powertrain fault light. Generally, this indicator light means a problem has been detected in the automatic transmission. Powertrain fault tends to happen to older and or higher mileage vehicles and can cause Your vehicle's power components to overheat. If You ignore these warnings, Your vehicle may operate in a defaulted safe mode until the issue has been resolved/repaired. This light only comes on if there is a serious issue.

I have a Ford Edge. 2014. 33,000 miles. It lost power as I was pulling into a gas station ( luckily). I looked up the icon and it pointed towards the Throttle body being faulty. I had it towed to Ford even though upon turning it off then on it returned to normal but I didn't want to chance being on the freeway and it happening again. The tech immediately knew it was the Throttle body. It was covered by my extended warranty but not by the Ford recall which I think is B.S.The tech said its specific to Vin#. ? It's an almost $400 part plus another $50 to reprogram a circuit board. Anyways thankfully my extended warranty covered it. Looking at the description on the Ford receipt they couldnt replicate the fault but it did show the code P2111 with a hand held diagnostic. So again I got lucky that car retained the code because I'm reading other peoples concerns saying their vehicle did not.It was very concerning to completely lose all power and I'm thankful I wasnt on the freeway because it litrally crawled into the gas station.

The 2008 Ford Edge wrench light is about a powertrain malfunction/reduced power. This light illuminate when a powertrain or a AWD fault has been detected. Contact your authorized dealer as soon as possible.
