This means that the stability control system is not activated while operating the 2010 Nissan Maxima and the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) OFF warning light is displayed on the dashboard. The word Dynamic Control of Vehicles is one that is used on Nissan vehicles and shares the same traction control system feature. The VDC system decreases the engine output to MINImize wheel spin if the car is trapped in harsh terrain such as snow or mud. Even when the gas pedal is depressed to the floor, the engine speed can be decreased. Switch the VDC system off if full engine power is required to free a trapped car. Push the VDC OFF button to turn the VDC system off. Push the VDC OFF switch again or restart the process to activate the engine. The Seeindicator turns on. To turn on the machine, press the VDC OFF switch again or restart the engine. In the Starting and Driving section, see the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system.

For the 2010 Nissan Maxima, VDC stands for Vehicle Dynamic Control. When the VDC system is functioning, the "slip" indicator light will flash (slip symbol displayed look like a car with wet track behind it). When the VDC system is turned off, you will the corresponding indicator, VDC OFF, displayed. The driver can turn off this system. It can be turned on by pushing the off switch again, or by restarting the vehicle.
