The 2018 Nissan Altima came available in several different trims including the S, SR, SL, SV, and 3.5 SL. No matter which trim level You have they will have run perfectly fine on regular unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87. There is no benefit to using premium fuel as these vehicles are not tuned for it. All trim levels will have a fuel tank capacity of 18 US gallons. The MPG rating for models with a 2.5L engine will be 27 MPG city and 38 MPG highway. The 3.5L model will have slightly worse gas mileage with an MPG rating of 22 city and 32 highway.

The 2018 Nissan Altima trims that have a 2.5 liter engine with a continuously variable-speed transmission are the S, the SR, the SL and the SV. All of these version of the Altima use regular unleaded gas only. There is also one model, the Nissan Altima SL, that comes with a 3.5 liter engine. The Altima SL, much like its smaller engine counterpart, takes regular unleaded gas too.
