The starter relay in a 2001 Ford Expedition is located in the main fuse panel under the hood. The main fuse panel for the SUV can be found on the right side of the engine near the battery. The fuse box under the hood is called the integrated power module (IPM) and is where You can find all the relays and other major fuses for the exterior of the vehicle such as for the exterior lights, windshield wipers, etc. There could also be other potential problems such as a short in the wiring or corrosion that has caused the wires to be damaged. The first thing You should do is check the relay to see if it is bad. You can use a voltage tool to check to see if there is power going to the relay. If there is power going to the relay then replace the relay. The average cost for a replacement relay is around $15 - $25 depending on if You get an aftermarket or OEM product. The OEM or Original Equipment Manufacturer which is genuine parts from the manufacturer will cost more and can sometimes be hard to find. The aftermarket parts are the parts that are made by other third-party manufacturers. These are parts usually still good quality and can be a bit cheaper but they are not officially backed by the manufacturer and may have some minor cosmetic differences.
