The cruise control fuse for Your 2001 Ford F-150 is going to be located inside Your interior cabin's fuse panel, and will either be #14 or #16, labeled "speed control". It's going to be a 10 amp fuse, and You should check continuity on this, even if it's not obviously blown. There are almost 24 diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) related to the cruise control system, so if You're finding it's not working at all, any one of those can trigger the malfunction indicator and a disabled system, and be unrelated to the state of the fuse. Speaking of the speed control switch, You might be interested to know that Ford issued a safety recall for a large number of 2001 F-150s, due to under-hood fires related to it. If You picked up Your vehicle used and aren't sure if the previous owner had the warranty work done, try using a site (like vehiclehistory.com!) to check the VIN's history and see if this has been done.

There is also a fuse around the brake fluid reservoir, this is the first fuse to check.
