A 2002 Ford Ranger equipped with a 3.0L V6 engine is going to have a maximum towing capacity of 6,060 lbs. This is around 400 pounds higher when compared to the base modELRanger. The tongue weight capacity is going to be 400 pounds if You have A-Class iii receiver installed on it. Overall this small truck has the ability to haul as much weight as the big boys and even out tows some F-150 models. You'll be able to haul workloads or a medium sized travel trailer with no issue at all in this truck.

My 2002 Ranger Edge, with 3L engine,5 speed OD auto trans and a weight distributing hitch is spec'ed at 5000+ lbs. With dead weight hitch its less than 3000. BUT...your brakes are more important than anything else. You can pull a balanced 10,000 lb. Load, straight and level, take it slow and easy, as a one shot. .... But CAN YOU STOP? That is the critical limiter.
