The 2003 GMC Envoy neutral safety switch is located on the side of transmission where the shifter cable connects. If the switch has gone bad then You will find the engine will not crank in park but will crank in neutral. This is very bad for the engine, if You try to drive like this You will very quickly burn out Your engine. The switch is about 400 to have fixed altogether but this is much cheaper than a blown engine. If You do have to drive it like this make sure You stay in low gears and do not get on the highway. Only do this is You have to get to a shop or something.
I have a 03 envoy xl that was driving and when accelerated it went into neutral while driving and still in drive. I have no gears and only goes in park. Ran codes and that part came up. The fluid level is good, color is good and it's not burnt. I didn't have any issues with slipping. Could this be my problem?
