Depending on the configuration of Your 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, You'll have one of three different engine options. Your truck may come with A6.0L V8 engine, a larger 6.6L V8 diesel engine, or a supersized 8.1L V8 engine. Each, predictably, uses different oil. Both gasoline engines use SAE 5W-30 full synthetic oil, though SAE 5W-40 can be substituted over the short term. The 6.0L useS6.0 quarts, while the 8.1L useS6.4 quarts. The diesel engine, on the other hand, useS-10.0 quarts of SAE 15W-40 full synthetic diesel oil. It's also possible to use SAE 5W-40 in this application, and it's recommended when ambient temperatures are below 0 degrees Fahrenheit. Otherwise, it's best to always use the manufacturer's recommended oil type.
