To determine the fuel tank capacity of the 2010 Ford F-150, You must first determine which trim level You have. Ford fitted different models with different sized fuel tanks, but luckily, there are only two. If You have A4X4 model with a regular cab and an 8 foot bed, a SuperCab with A6.5 foot bed, or a SuperCrew with A5.5 foot or A6.5 foot bed, You'll have a 36 gallon fuel tank. All other models are fitted with a 26 gallon tank. The increase in capacity is to partially offset a decrease in gas mileage, due in part to the additional weight of the truck. While You may be coming out slightly ahead with miles between fill ups on the larger models, You'll be paying more at the pump each time.

According to the 2010 F-150 sales brochure, the 2010 F-150 XL, STX, XLT, and Lariat models all have 26 gallon fuel tanks as standard. The 36 gallon tank is listed as "Select Availability" for these models. Only the 2010 F-150 FX4 is listed as using the 36 gallon tank as standard.
