The towing capacity of the 4WD 2012 Toyota Highlander V6 starts at around 2,000 pounds but with the optional towing package takes it up to 5,000 pounds. The optional tow package came with a heavy-duty radiator and engine oil cooler to compensate for the heavier loads being hauled. It also has a 200-Watt fan coupling, supplemental transmission cooler, 150 amp alternator and a prewired trailer light plug. You can quickly identify if the vehicle has the tow package by looking at the driver side of the splash guard just below the bumper and inside of the driver side fog light, if there is a hole there the tow package is installed in this vehicle if not is just the standard model.
