The 2018 Honda CR-V collision mitigation braking system is designed to be able to notice when there is an obstacle in the way and brake the vehicle for You. The issue is that the sensor that is in charge of this can malfunction, making the car think there is stuff in the way when there is not. This is dangerous as it will make the car brake on its own, sometimes at speed, and this can cause a wreck. If You find Your car doing this You need to contact the manufacturer. Honda lost a lawsuit over this and they are obligated to fix the system for You free of charge, as long as You can show that the CMB is the reason for the braking.

There is actually a lawsuit concerning the collisions mitigation system (crv) in the 2018 honda cr-v. In affected vehicles, the system creates a false positive to avoid crashes because it thinks there is an obstacle ahead when there isn't. This causes the vehicle to brake for no reason.

February 26, 2022 I believe Honda’s CMBS problem is evident tin their other model lines and still exists in later years. My HRV and my son’s Acura often unnecessarily flash the CMBC “BRAKE” warning light ( without actually activating the brakes) on the dash many times. To someone not familiar with the car the large flashing orange “BRAKE” light can be scary and disconcerting. The solution, not always known or explained by the dealer, is to desensitize the system, ie shorten the distance on which the CMBS light activates. Confusing instructions are in the owners’ manual.
