Anyone who owned or leased a 2015 to 2018 Chevy Traverse and experienced power steering problems. Drivers have reported that the power steering in these vehicles tends to fail after about 30,000 miles. GM said it would make free repairs on the vehicles, which may include replacing the power steering motor, steering column, or power steering motor control unit. It said it will reimburse customers who have already paid for repairs. If power steering assist is lost, a message displays on the Driver Information Center and a chime sound to inform the driver, GM said in a news release. Steering control can be maintained because the vehicle will revert to manual steering, but greater driver effort would be required at low vehicle speeds, which could increase the risk of a crash.

My 2010 Chevy traverse steering wheel is hard to turn why
I have looked on line and like everyone else I don't believe the top answer from Tina is correct. I found nothing about GM issuing any recall for the Chevrolet traverse power steering pump, found enough complaints that there should have been a recall issued for the problem. The 2016 model I have showed that the fuild should be replaced at 30K so thought to try that 1st, waste of 125 bucks. It helped for about 3 days before the problem returned.

I know about it but wait, it gets worse. Due to the PS leak the O2 sensor gets saturated with PS fluid creating an emissions issue. Many shops won't tell me the reason behind their fraudulent Emissions repair. The O2 sensors harness connector also get saturated and the fluid enters the O2 sensor and creates a FALSE CODE. BUYER BEWARE

I have a 2015 and my power steering just failed 2 days ago at 58000 miles. That is belony in mY mind. No recall of any kind or warranty when I called the dealer and 1600 to fix it.
II have a have a 2018 Chevy traverse with power steering starting new starting to wind and I only had it for two years With 49,000 miles and Chevy said it goes by vent numbers that include for that warranty bullshit It’s not fair for any 2018 Because they want you to pay for the warranty

2015 Traverse just passed 90k miles. Power steering goes out in low RPMs works fine driving at speed. It started suddenly after I got stuck in the sand. (Don't ask, long story). My question is: Do I replace just the pump or the pump AND the rack n pinion unit too?!? Not a fan of doing the same repair twice instead of all at once.
Hi. I can not find any information on Chevrolet paying for power steering pumps or issues. Please tell us more. Regretting purchasing my 2017. Just did a new transmission that failed at about 73,000 miles. Now I may need a power steering pump. Will be at about $8,000 in repairs for a car that is 5 years old.

I'm trying to find information about this. My 2017 Traverse seemed fine when in drive, but when I tried to pull into a parking spot the steering wheel was almost impossible to turn. Happened very suddenly. Car has 50,700 miles.
