When You get an error message in Your Ford Fusion saying "engine coolant over temperature" I recommend that You pull over to a safe area and turn off Your engine as soon as possible. This is a sign that the cooling capacity of Your vehicle is reduced and the coolant is getting too hot. If Your engine overheats it can cause permanent damage to the components as well as blown gaskets that can be costly to replace. Usually this light will turn on at the dash in conjunction with a check engine light. Use an OBD II scan tool to read the code that caused the light to go on to get a better understanding of what component has failed and caused Your engine coolant to get too hot.

If you are getting a message that your engine coolant over-temperature, the engine coolant is too high under the normal engine speed. That means your engine is beginning to overheat.
