Ford's 15N01 recall, provides an extended warranty for faulty power steering gears covered under recall 15S18. Notice 15S18 directs dealerships to re-progRam the PCSM or replace steering gear if relevant diagnostic trouble codes are present or have been displayed in the past. 15N01 is provides an extended warranty for existing gears if they are not replaced under recall notice 15S18. Both bulletins apply to 2011-2012 Ford Fusion models as well as other Ford vehicles. In particular those Fusions built between September 7, 2010 thru February 28, 2012 at Ford's Hermosillo plant. The warranty allows for a one-time replacement of the Fusion's steering gear for up to 10 years or 150,000 miles from the start date of the original service contract, or whichever occurs first.

Would the 10 years start after recall 15S18? If so then that was in 2015 and well within the 10 years

My car has only 42,000 miles but Ford is not honoring the warranty because it falls into the "whatever comes first category. No Bueno.
