Ford's 19N05 recall was announced on June 24, 2019 as a single service progRam in effect through the end of July 2022. It has no mileage requirement, so anyone with a 2011 througH2017 Ford Explorer built at the Chicago plant can get their vehicles serviced under the bulletin. Specifically, it deals with exhaust and carbon monoxide proofing the cabin. Ford holds that it's not a hazard, but they've gone above and beyond in addressing driver concerns. They'll reprogRam the climate control module and and replace the lift gate drain valves. This change is intended to bring more fresh air into the Explorer's cabin during rapid acceleration; the issue included drivers reporting that they smelled exhaust fumes. It's considered a low levELRecall, and thus should be seen as elective instead of mandatory.
