The Honda Element immobilizer reset procedure is to insert the ignition key, switch it to the on position, then to the lock position. Remove the key, put it back in, turn it back to the on position. Your immobilizer should reset itself. An engine immobilizer is a component in Your cars computer that ensures You are using the correct smart Key fob before allowing You to start the engine. This means You cant make a copy of a key or try to jimmy the ignition. You need both the key and the fob. When a car is new, immobilizer problems are usually addressed with a software update. The Honda Element problem tends to affect early-mid 2000s models, and it comes down to the simple fact that electronic components can deteriorate over time.

To reset the honda element immobilizer, turn the ignition switch to the lock (0) position, remove the key, reinsert it, and turn the ignition switch to the on (ii) position again. The device may not understand the encoding of your key if another immobilizer key or other metal object (i.E. Key fob) is near the ignition switch when the key is inserted.

If another Honda key were present I wojld drive that Honda instead of wasting three painstaking and hairpulling days going through possible problemsandreset codes to no avail. Now sounds like flywheel isnt catching or when it does hear a loud clunking sound in the motor.
