If You're getting a P0700 fault code in Your Chevrolet Traverse, You're not alone; it's a very common code that's (almost) always accompanied by another. Essentially, all that it means is that there's an issue with Your transmission system. The accompanying code should give You more information on where to look first. Depending on the other code or codes You're getting, Your 0700 can be as simple as low fluid, or something as serious as a failed transmission control module or a bad valve body. It could also indicate a faulty shift solenoid or a short in the transmission. Without more information, it's very difficult (if not impossible) to narrow down. Could You take it to an auto parts store for another scan and let us know if it's throwing any other codes

P0700 is set when the pcm identifies a transmission control system malfunction. This malfunction causes the vehicle to set a check engine light and a fail-safe mode to trigger. Once the fail-safe mode has been set it will remain until the fault has been repaired or normal operation has been found.
