While it may seem a bit counterintuitive, Toyota recommends the use of DEXRON-IIiAutomatic transmission fluid in the power steering system of the 2005 Corolla. While it's possible to use over the counter power steering fluid from a reputable vendor, ATF is typically much less expensive and much easier to find lying around Your garage. There's no specified power steering fluid change interval guidance from Toyota regarding the '15 Corolla, but You'll still want to perform the swap fairly regularly. Most online users seem to agree that once every 30,000 to 50,000 miles is plenty. This will counteract the ATF's breakdown, so You should be good to go for quite a while after the replacement.

Most toyota / lexus / scion vehicles use automatic transmission fluid (atf) from dextron iii, as written in the power steering system on the reservoir top. Do not use the power steering fluid on these vehicles.

Consult with a Toyota dealership repair department for proper compatible fluid.
